Lowe's to create 140 jobs in Nanaimo

Career Fair set for June 16-18 in anticipation of new Lowe's store slated to open late summer 2016

TORONTO, ON — June 8, 2016 - As part of its ongoing growth in Canada, Lowe's has announced hiring plans for its new location set to open in Nanaimo in late summer 2016. The store will become the company's first location in Nanaimo under the Lowe's banner, and is expected to create 130 permanent positions in addition to 5-10 seasonal roles.

Lowe's will be holding a Career Fair from June 16-18, 2016 inside the Nanaimo North Town Centre Mall (across from Guest Services) at 4750 Rutherford Road to support mass hiring for its new Nanaimo location. The store will be hiring for all positions including full time, part time and seasonal roles. Available positions range from Department Managers and Sales Specialists to Night Crew, Cashiers, Customer Service Associates, Department Associates and Receiving Clerks. There will even be a position for a Garden Centre Pro.

Interested candidates are invited to attend the Lowe's Career Fair to learn more about available employment opportunities and apply in person. The store's management team will be onsite ready to accept applications and conduct on-the-spot interviews. In some instances (when possible), offers of employment will be made onsite to successful applicants. The new Nanaimo Lowe's will have approximately 100,000 square feet of retail sales space, with an adjacent garden centre of approximately 13,000 square feet. The store will be located at 4750 Rutherford Road, inside the Nanaimo North Town Centre Mall. The store is among four new Lowe's locations set to open in the province this year in cities including Abbotsford, Prince George, Nanaimo and Victoria. Lowe's currently has one location in B.C., in New Westminster, under the Lowe's banner.
