Partnering with Opération Père Noël

Boucherville, QC – December 15, 2017, – Elves from Opération Père Noël visited the Lowe’s Canada head office in Boucherville, in Montreal’s south shore, today to collect over 1,000 presents for disadvantaged children in the community.

Opération Père Noël was founded in 1995 by Normand Brault and Thérèse Guillemette. Its mission is to give children who are in need or no longer have a family the chance to enjoy some Christmas magic when they find out that Santa has brought the present they asked him for. Each year the organization works with partner associations and receives thousands of letters from children. The letters are passed on to kindly Santas who take it upon themselves to buy a gift and write a note from Santa to go with it.

“Each year we are thrilled to see our pool of partners grow so we can make even more of these children’s wishes come true. Lowe’s Canada is one of our most active and enthusiastic donors, without a doubt. We are happy that they have agreed to build on the initial partnership we created with RONA and we are so grateful to Lowe’s Canada for helping us bring the magic of Christmas to all these children,” said Normand Brault, co-founder of Opération Père Noël.

Lowe’s Canada had set a lofty goal for 2017—to be the official Santa for the entire south shore of Montreal and bring the magic of Christmas to more than 1,000 children. “We shared the challenge with our employees, and their response was even better than we had expected. We reached, and exceeded, our goal in just a few days. We even heard from some of our partners who also wanted to be someone’s Santa this year,” said Claire Bara, Lowe’s Canada Vice-President for Strategy and Business Intelligence, who has been involved in the Opération Père Noël partnership since 2016. “Making a difference in somebody’s day, every day is one of our corporate values at Lowe’s Canada, and it’s very rewarding to be able to do exactly that for over a thousand children on this very special day. We bring magic, joy, and comfort to children who probably wouldn’t get any presents on Christmas morning if it weren’t for Opération Père Noël.”

In all, 535 Lowe’s Canada employees wanted to be Santa for one or more children this year and placed gifts under the tall Christmas tree in the staff cafeteria at the head office. Today Opération Père Noël volunteers collected the gifts, which will be delivered to the families over the next few days.
