Lowe's Canada pays tribute to André H. Gagnon, a pionner and Rona builder.

Boucherville, Québec – November 30, 2017 – Lowe’s Canada and RONA employees and executive team were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Mr. André H. Gagnon, a member of the RONA board of directors from 1971 to 2007 and chairman of the board from 2002 to 2007. Their thoughts go to his family and loved ones to whom they extend sincere condolences.

Mr. Gagnon began as a RONA hardware dealer in 1962 and always had the success of RONA and its network of affiliate dealers at heart. Under his leadership, the banner enjoyed tremendous growth, including through the acquisition of Réno-Dépôt in Québec (2003), Totem Building Supplies in Alberta (2005), Mountain Building Centres in British Columbia (2006), and Chester Dawe in Newfoundland (2006). His commitment to the company made RONA a flagship brand across Canada.

"With his bold vision, André Gagnon was instrumental in making RONA what it is today: a thriving, growing banner known throughout Canada. We want to pay tribute to this great builder whose legacy is more alive than ever,” said Sylvain Prud’homme, President and Chief Executive Officer, Lowe’s Canada.

“Mr. Gagnon was a hard worker with keen business acumen. He also had a strong sense of community engagement. He was an inspiration for all our dealers”, added Alain Brisebois, Executive Vice President, Operations Central Services and Affiliate Dealers.
