Lowe's Canada, Jour de la Terre Québec and Earth Day Canada work together to plant 48,658 trees in Canada
Boucherville, QC – October 5, 2018 – Lowe’s Canada, a leading home improvement company operating or servicing over 630 corporate and affiliated stores under various banners, is proud to announce the planting of 48,658 trees in Canada in partnership with Jour de la Terre Québec and Earth Day Canada. The initiative was a result of the commitment Lowe’s Canada’s made last April to plant a tree for every ECO product (excluding forest products) sold on April 22, 2018, as part of its ECO program launch in all corporate . From mid-May to late June, Jour de la Terre Québec and Earth Day Canada planted over 48,000 trees at various sites in British Columbia, Ontario, and Quebec with funding from Lowe’s Canada.
"Lowe’s Canada’s purpose is to help people love where they live. By both encouraging customers to purchase ECO products and greening up public spaces, we’re helping create healthy and sustainable environments in the communities where we operate, today and for generations to come," said Jean-Sébastien Lamoureux, Vice-President, Communications, Public Affairs and Compliance at Lowe’s Canada.
To wrap up this major project, 22 Lowe’s Canada employees participated this week in planting some 600 trees at the Canadian Space Agency facility in Saint-Hubert, in Montreal’s South Shore, just minutes from the company’s head office. "One of our values at Lowe’s is Being part of something bigger, so we’re delighted to give our employees the opportunity to get involved and make a difference in their local communities," said Mr. Lamoureux.
The initiative is the result of a partnership with Jour de la Terre Québec and Earth Day Canada, which supervised the planting of 48,658 trees and will oversee their growth.
