Lowe's Canada Helps Vero & Louis Foundation

Montreal & Boucherville, QC – April 24, 2018 — The Véro & Louis Foundation and Lowe’s Canada, a leading home improvement company operating or servicing over 630 corporate and affiliate dealer stores under different banners (including RONA, Reno-Depot, and Ace), are pleased to announce that they have entered into a partnership. As part of the latter, Lowe’s Canada will support The Véro & Louis Foundation up to the amount of 1.5 million dollars, thereby contributing to offering homes to adults with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). These funds will help The Véro & Louis Foundation build houses that meet the needs of autistic adults aged 21 years and older in the province of Quebec.

Currently in Quebec, there are care homes and intermediate service centres for adults with autism, but very few permanent services are offered specifically to people living with ASD. Their families are exhausted. The mission of the Véro & Louis Foundation is therefore to build houses specially designed to meet the different needs of these people.

In addition to a significant financial donation, Lowe’s Canada will support the Foundation in connection with the purchase of the materials required to build the first three houses. “We are building materials experts, and the Foundation seeks to build houses for people who have glaring needs. Partnering with the Foundation to offer homes was therefore only natural, in addition to supporting the Artists’ Garage Sale for the next two years,” said Sylvain Prud’Homme, President and Chief Executive Officer of Lowe’s Canada.

With emotion, Véronique Cloutier and Louis Morissette emphasized the importance of this first major donation for The Véro & Louis Foundation: “We are proud to have Lowe’s Canada at our side. We wish to offer families of autistic adults that which is most precious to them: feeling confident that their child lives in a caring and safe home. This first major donation is giving us wings and helping us forge ahead.”

The first house, which will accommodate 20 residents, is to be built in Varennes. Construction is expected to begin in fall 2018, with the inauguration scheduled to take place a year later.

About the Véro & Louis Foundation Created in 2016, The Véro & Louis Foundation’s goal is to raise funds to finance the construction of a home suited to adults with autism aged 21 and over. Offering a safe living environment tailored to specific needs, the first home should open its doors in 2019. To make a donation, please visit www.fondationverolouis.com.
